What is rotating a PDF?

Rotating a PDF changes the orientation of one or more pages — turning a sideways scan right-side up, or fixing a page that was accidentally saved upside down. It's one of the most common fixes needed after scanning documents, since scanners and phone cameras don't always capture every page in the same orientation.

This tool lets you rotate pages entirely inside your browser using PDF.js for live thumbnail previews and pdf-lib to apply the actual rotation. You can rotate every page at once with the global controls, or fix individual pages one at a time using the arrows on each thumbnail — useful when only a few pages in an otherwise correct document came out sideways.

Because rotation is applied as a page property rather than by re-rendering the content, your PDF's text, images, and quality are completely unaffected — only the page orientation changes. Nothing is ever uploaded to a server; the whole process, from preview to download, happens on your device.

How to Rotate a PDF

01
Upload your PDF

Click the drop zone or drag and drop your PDF. Your file never leaves your device — all processing is local.

02
Rotate pages

Use the global controls to rotate all pages at once, or click the arrows on individual page thumbnails for fine-grained, page-by-page control.

03
Preview changes

Each thumbnail updates instantly so you can confirm exactly how every page will look before downloading anything.

04
Download

Hit Download and your rotated PDF saves instantly. Only the pages you rotated are changed — everything else is preserved exactly as it was.

Tips & Best Practices

🔄 Use global rotate for uniform scans

If every page in your PDF is sideways in the same direction, the "All pages" controls fix the whole document in one click.

🎯 Fix individual pages when mixed

Scanned batches sometimes have a few pages rotated differently — use the per-page arrows to correct just those pages without touching the rest.

👀 Always check the thumbnails first

Since each thumbnail updates live, take a moment to scroll through and confirm every page looks right before downloading.

↩️ Use Reset all if you make a mistake

If you rotate pages incorrectly, "Reset all" clears every rotation back to the original orientation so you can start over.

Completely. All rotation happens inside your browser using JavaScript. Your PDF is never uploaded to any server and never leaves your device.
Yes — each page has its own rotation controls. Click the arrows on any individual thumbnail to rotate just that page. Other pages are unaffected.
No — rotation is applied as a metadata change to the PDF, not a re-render. Content quality, fonts, images, and formatting are all fully preserved.
270° clockwise is the same as 90° counter-clockwise. So if your page is rotated 90° too far to the right, applying 270° will bring it back upright. The ↺ button in the toolbar applies this rotation.
Click the rotation arrows on that page's thumbnail again to keep turning it until it returns to its original orientation — four 90° rotations in the same direction bring a page full circle back to where it started.
The tool will attempt to load encrypted PDFs but may not succeed with every protected file. If your file fails to load, remove the password protection first using your PDF software, then rotate.
There's no fixed limit set by the tool. Since everything runs on your own device, very long PDFs (100+ pages) may take a little longer to load thumbnails and save, depending on your device's speed.
Yes. This tool runs fully in mobile browsers such as Safari and Chrome. Tap the drop zone to select a PDF from your device and use the same rotation controls as on desktop.
